June 3 and June 12
In early June, the Middle Fork of the Salmon transforms into a spectacular spring setting. Wildflowers in full bloom, crystal-clear hot springs, and breathtaking waterfalls tumbling into the river. The flow of the river is quick and we have time to enjoy the canyon while it’s most spectacular. Early June is one of the best times of the year to hike trails adjacent to the Middle Fork. Our crew knows the canyon well and enjoys hiking. For those interested in exploring the canyon during a time unlike any other, early June is perfect for you.
By late August peak summer use has abated, fall colors paint the riverbanks and canyon, and abundant native cutthroat trout are actively feeding in anticipation of winter. While our September trips are exclusively fly fishing, on this trip, you get to enjoy the best of fly fishing or rafting.
