Trip Planning For Trips Meeting in Boise or Salmon

Below is the essential information you need to plan your Middle Fork trip. In preparing for your trip, it is helpful to print out a copy of our Check List and Boise Trip Details. If you are joining us on a trip in June, July, or August that meets in Stanley, Idaho, please go to that page for pre-trip meeting and other information.

Trip Meeting Locations For Salmon or Boise
Late season trips scheduled to meet in Boise or Salmon. If you are flying to Boise, the trip meets at the Best Western Vista Inn the evening before departure. We meet in the lobby at 7:30 pm. For reservations, call 1-800-727-5006. If you are driving, we recommend meeting the trip in Salmon the evening before departure. We meet at the Stagecoach Inn at 7:30 pm in the meeting room next to the lobby. Their reservations number is (208) 756-4251. Trips that meet in Boise or Salmon require a flight to a landing strip next to the Middle Fork on the morning of departure.  Guests are responsible for making flight arrangements from Salmon at the end of the trip. Flights from Salmon can be arranged with Sawtooth Flying Service, 1-800-798-6105 or with Gem Air, 1-208-756-7382

Flight to the River From Boise or Salmon
The flight from Salmon is included in our trip fare. From Boise, there is a supplemental air-charter fee of $125 per-person for parties of 3 or more. The supplemental fee from Boise for fewer guests is an additional $375 for 1 or 2 people.

Fishing on the Middle Fork is outstanding. You’ll need an Idaho fishing license. You can get one in Boise or Salmon before your trip or by calling Idaho Sports Licensing, 1-800-554-8685. Our September Middle Fork fly-fishing page has helpful information about fishing the Middle Fork.

On our Fly Fishing trips we use only boats rigged for fishing. Boats are set up so one person can fish from the front and one from the back.

Accommodations After Your River Trip
After lunch on the last day of the trip, our bus shuttles everyone to the town of Salmon. We usually arrive in Salmon around 4:00 p.m. Some guests enjoy spending the night in Salmon before flying to Boise the next morning. For lodging in Salmon, we recommend the Stagecoach Inn. Their reservations number is (208) 756-4251. In Boise, we suggest our meeting place, the Best Western Vista Inn.

Travel Arrangements at the End of Your Trip
Guests are responsible for flight arrangements from Salmon and should make reservations well in advance. Our bus usually arrives at the Salmon airport by 4 pm on the afternoon of our take-out.

Late summer weather is usually ideal on the Middle Fork but mountain rain showers are common. Typical daytime temperatures are in the high 70s. Evenings and early mornings can be chilly so bring a warm fleece type jacket and good quality rain gear.
