IRJ guide, Hannah Fast is a self-taught artist and renowned Middle Fork Salmon fly fishing guide. It always made sense to her to combine these two passions and create a project that reflects her experiences to the public. Through her woodblock art and drawings, she was able to create the canvas that she dreamed about while floating the Middle Fork Salmon River and hiking in the Frank Church Wilderness. Her artwork begins out in the field, where she sketches her surroundings, then at home, the drawings are transferred to wood. Hannah avoids the overt use of modern technology by carving, pressing, and printing the old fashioned way… By hand. If you would like to view her artwork click enjoy her Etsy page, it will take you right back to the river.
